    • compilation of 8 launch reviews with ~1960 gaming benchmarks at all resolutions
    • only benchmarks at real games compiled, not included any 3DMark & Unigine benchmarks
    • geometric mean in all cases
    • standard rasterizer performance without ray-tracing and/or DLSS/FSR
    • extra ray-tracing benchmarks after the standard rasterizer benchmarks (at 2160p resolution)
    • stock performance on (usual) reference/FE boards, no overclocking
    • factory overclocked cards (results marked with an ✲) were normalized to reference clocks/performance, but just for the overall performance average
    • missing results were interpolated (for a more accurate average) based on the available & former results
    • performance average is (moderate) weighted in favor of reviews with more benchmarks
    • retailer prices based on German price search engine Geizhals (on April 4, 2022)
    • for the full results (incl. power draw numbers) plus some more explanations check 3DCenter's launch analysis

TLDR: The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is on average +8.4% faster at 2160p than the GeForce RTX 3090 (on reference clocks). The Ti consumes +103W more (462W) than the non-Ti (359W, real power draw at gaming).

Note: One difficulty for this benchmark evaluation was that some test reports turned out to be methodically too inaccurate for the small performance differences to be expected with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. This includes tests where primarily factory-overclocked cards are found - and sometimes even without labeling which models exactly are involved. Of course, the associated error quotient is low (1-3 percentage points at best), but the smaller the differences to be determined, the more effective such (seemingly) small error rates naturally become.

The use of old test scores for previously released graphics cards is similar. Some reviews have actually managed to put the regular GeForce RTX 3090 through the (new) test with its test results from the launch day in September 2020. This flatters the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which is then tested on brand-new drivers against the GeForce RTX 3090 on (2020) launch drivers. But this of course simply not viable for such a comparison of the minor differences.

The hardware testers in question could have seen for themselves that something is wrong here when the performance gap between GeForce RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti turns out to be considerably larger than between GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 - or when a GeForce RTX 3080 12GB with only 70 SM is supposed to be able to beat the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 80 SM. At this point, there were some "failures" or hardware tests whose results could not be used with in good conscience.
